Anti-doping

IBSA is fully committed to the fight against doping in sport, from Testing and Monitoring to Education and Promotion. As the Governing Body for a range of sports, we are a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code.

Anti-Doping programs are founded on the intrinsic Value of Sport. This intrinsic value is often referred to as “The Spirit of Sport”. Anti-Doping programs seek to protect the health of Athletes and to provide the opportunity for Athletes to pursue human excellence without the Use of Prohibited Substances and Methods.

The spirit of sport

Doping is fundamentally contrary to the Spirit of Sport.

The principle of Strict Liability

The Principle of Strict Liability is applied in situations where any prohibited Substance is found in your Test.

What does it mean?

It means that each athlete is Strictly Liable for the substances found in his or her body, and that an anti-doping rule violation occurs whether or not the athlete intentionally or unintentionally used a prohibited substance or was negligent or otherwise at fault.
